Youth Activities: Raised on a dairy and poultry ranch in Santa Rosa, California. Active member of both 4-H and FFA. Chapter President of Santa Rosa FFA, as well as State Farmer and member of State Champion Livestock Judging Team. President of Steuben 4-H Club.

BS - 1966, Fresno State University (FSU)
Teaching Credential - 1967, University of California, Davis
MA - 1971, University of California, Davis
College Activities: Member of FSU Livestock and Dairy Cattle Judging Team. Member of Alpha Sigma Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho and Alpha Zeta. General Chairman of the FSU Agricultural Field Day. Selected as the Outstanding Agronomy Graduate at FSU for 1966.
